- You would rather not fix anything to the ceiling.
Look elsewhere if
- Your room is short. This is the placement that fails a garage, and no budget fixes it.
- You want the tightest possible footprint. The sensor needs floor space behind you that a side or overhead unit does not.
Common mistakes buying a KIT
Measuring the room but not the sensor setback
The distance behind the tee is on top of your ball flight, not part of it. A sixteen foot room that looked generous stops working the moment you add six to nine feet behind the hitting position.
Putting the sensor where the golfer wants to stand
Radar units need a clear view down the target line from behind the ball, which is exactly where a right handed golfer takes the club back. Plan the sensor position before you fix the mat down.
Budgeting for the sensor alone
A launch monitor is not a simulator. You still need an enclosure, an impact screen, a mat and usually a projector before you can play a hole. The cost guide breaks down what the rest of the room costs.
Measuring to the wall instead of to the obstruction
This unit needs about 19 ft of depth at minimum. Measure to the nearest thing that actually stops you, which is often a water heater, a shelf or a garage door track rather than the wall itself. The room fit calculator checks your real numbers against every unit we track.
The KIT against the Approach R50
At $5,000 the Garmin Approach R50 is the closest unit we track on price, which makes it the comparison most people are actually making. They sit in different places relative to the ball, which means they do not want the same room at all. That, rather than the specs, is usually what decides it.

Carl's Place states the KIT needs 10 ft of space behind the tee, which is the deepest setback of any unit we track. That figure is a retailer's, not Full Swing's, so it marks a room tight rather than ruling the unit out. Full Swing publishes no placement geometry we could find.
