- Floor space is tight. Hanging forward of the tee, it consumes none.
- You are building a permanent room rather than a setup that packs away.
Look elsewhere if
- You cannot fix into the ceiling, or you rent.
- Your ceiling sits outside the mount band. Too low rules it out, and too high needs a drop mount, which is a cost and a job.
- You want no recurring cost. Course play here sits behind a paid plan, which changes the five year total.
- You wanted to take it to the range. This one is an indoor unit.
Common mistakes buying a iO
Measuring to the finished ceiling instead of the mount point
The band is measured from the hitting surface to the sensor. A duct, a joist or a light in the way changes where the unit can actually hang, and that is the number that matters.
Buying before checking you can fix into the structure
These bolt to a joist and are heavy. A ceiling you cannot drill, or joists running the wrong way, turns a straightforward install into a framing job.
Budgeting for the sensor alone

Measuring to the wall instead of to the obstruction
This unit needs about 15 ft of depth at minimum. Measure to the nearest thing that actually stops you, which is often a water heater, a shelf or a garage door track rather than the wall itself. The room fit calculator checks your real numbers against every unit we track.
The iO against the GC3
At $6,999 the Foresight Sports GC3 is the closest unit we track on price, which makes it the comparison most people are actually making. They sit in different places relative to the ball, which means they do not want the same room at all. That, rather than the specs, is usually what decides it.

The iO calibrates in three height bands spanning 270 to 320 cm, which is a mount-height window rather than a floor. A ceiling above 126 in needs a drop mount rather than ruling the unit out. TrackMan's spec page states no minimum space requirement while its own room guide gives 10 ft plus of ball flight, so the 120 in figure comes from the room guide. Price is not published on the spec page. Price of $9,500 and the $700 per year membership are The Indoor Golf Shop's figures, as TrackMan does not publish either on its spec page.
