The short answer
Ten feet clears every ceiling requirement we track and is the height most manufacturers design around. Worth knowing: a few overhead sensors calibrate inside a band that tops out near this height, so at 10 ft and above the question flips from whether the ceiling is tall enough to whether the sensor needs a drop mount.

The question inverts
Below ten feet you are asking whether the ceiling is tall enough. At ten and above, for overhead sensors, you start asking whether it is too tall. Several mount bands top out near this height, and a ceiling above the band needs a drop pole to bring the sensor down into range.
Height stops being the limiting factor
At this point nothing we track fails on ceiling. If a build still does not work, the cause is depth or width, and adding height will not help. Worth knowing before paying for a room with a vaulted ceiling that is still too short front to back.
