The door track is your real ceiling
A garage measured at nine feet to the joists frequently offers closer to eight at the hitting position, because the door track and opener hang across exactly that part of the room. Measure at the tee, not at the wall.
Depth disappears faster than you expect
Twenty feet front to back sounds generous until the enclosure takes five, ball flight takes ten, and a radar sensor asks for another seven behind you. That is the arithmetic that turns a spacious garage into a room that only suits a sensor sitting beside the ball.
The slab is not level
Garage floors are poured with a fall toward the door for drainage, usually an inch or two over the length of the bay. A mat laid straight onto it puts you subtly below or above the ball on every shot, which is worth levelling before it becomes a swing fault you take outdoors.
